Deacon Lee

I am one day from completing one month at Santisimo Sacramento. I have been on several mission trips with others in the last few years. God was calling me to do more. One day while e-mailing Ginet, she said that the Archbishop of Piura had given Fr. Joe permission to invite any priest or deacon that he wanted to help at Santisimo Sacramento and that he wanted me. That completed my response to God's calling. Next, timing was important because of my wife, children, and grandchildren. My wife supported me and I left home on January 8.

My month has gone very quickly because I have been so busy. I bring God's word to an orphanage each week, I bring Communion to the sick, preach at Mass once per week, perform retreats for the staff, village leaders, and a drug rehab facility. Each day I spend time with my own adopted family. I managed to visit each family adopted my St. Monica Parish: 87 total. A roof was put on the St. Monica Chapel and Fr. Joe said the first Mass.

The experience has been wonderful because of the staff who helped me do things I never could do myself with my limited Spanish. The people of the villages love me and I feel as if I am one of them. It doesn't get any better than that!

Thanks you God! Thank you Santisimo Sacramento!
